David Ricks is a lifetime drug free athlete who has been competing in the sport of powerlifting for over 30 years. He was 1993 Navy Male Athlete of the Year. Member of the Summit County Ohio Sports Hall of Fame and Member of the Barberton Ohio Sports Hall of Fame. In 2007 he was selected as one of the top 25 powerlifters who have made the biggest impact on the Men’s Nationals.
In 2011 he was the co-winner of the Brother Bennett Award from the USA Powerlifting Federation. It is the most prestigious of the honorary awards given by the members of USA Powerlifting. It is named for the founder of the drug free powerlifting movement in the U.S., and recognizes extraordinary service to the athletes of our organization and leadership in furthering the cause of drug free sport. The recipients of the Brother Bennett Award reflect the highest ideals of our sport, and many of the recipients were both mentored by Brother Bennett and share his vision of a lifting platform free from the effects of strength inducing substances. In 2012 he was inducted into the International Powerlifting Federation Hall of Fame.
David Ricks is a 25 time National Champion. He has participated at 15 World Powerlifting Championships as a member of the US Men’s National team. At these Championships he has placed 1st 8 times; 2nd 6 times, and 3rd once. He also participated in the 2009 World Games. He holds several American Open and World Masters records.
His most recent contest was at the 2016 USAPL RAW Nationals. He placed 1st in the Masters Division (50+) and 2nd in the Open division 205 pound weight class. His best lifts were 705 pounds in the squat, 446 pounds in the bench, and 677 pounds in the deadllift.

Sam is a relative new comer to the powerlifting world. She has earned a top 3 finish at 2016 Raw Nationals after having only one year of competition under her belt. Her success in powerlifting can be contributed to her being a top division 1 athlete. She’s a former collegiate sprinter from the University of Nevada, Reno where she is currently ranked top 3 on the the Nevada All- time Track and Field list for the 60m, 100m, and 200 meter dash. Outside of her athletic ability, Sam is also a scholar and holds a Masters degree in Exercise Science from Old Dominion University.
